THE STORy

Hoʻomau is to progress or to continue beyond the status quo. E hoʻomau ke ola Hawaiʻi, today, we understand the past to strengthen the present to secure the future. Hawaiʻi has a very young history, prepared to impact the world because of the simple and little things that make Hawaiʻi, Hawaiʻi. Kauʻikeauoli persevered during the struggles of his kingdom, encouraging the education of Hawaiʻi. Queen Liliʻuokalani stood down to save her people from war allowing her people to stand up and continue her struggles to make things right, right again, ʻŌnipaʻa. The Hawaiian language movement began in the late sixties became a law in 1977 and now Hawaiian language is taught in the Universities of Hawaiʻi, Public, Private, and Charter schools and communities.


Naeʻole, caretaker of Paiʻea (Kamehameha) received Paiʻea near Moʻokini Heiau after being dedicated. Naeʻole was aware that Alapaʻi Nui, chief of Hilo, was in pursue to kill Paiʻea. With all struggles, Naeʻole journeyed through the districts of Kohala, Hawī, without breath or without sustenance, then to Halaʻula, failure and the sight of blood or death -experiences of the warriors failure to Alapaʻi Nui. Finally, Naeʻole arrives beyond Pololū until the ridge of Āwini, the location of safety for Paiʻea. Paiʻea, Kamehameha, the lonely one, united the islands of Hawaiʻi. Today, Kamehameha leaves a legacy of resilience to empower oneʻs spirit and soul by knowing the journey of oneʻs past encouraged in the present delighted for the future.
